The Indian Army lived up to its motto 'Service before Self' once again when it responded to the plea for help from Kupwara resident Manzoor Ahmed.

With heavy snowfall disrupting road connectivity, Manzoor Ahmed found himself in a spot of bother when his pregnant wife Fareeda started experiencing labour pains.

Manzoor reached out to the Army, whose personnel immediately rushed to Kupwara's Karalpura. A battlefield nursing assistant ascertained that Fareeda had to be evacuated to the nearest Public Health Centre.

Indian Army personnel trekked through knee-deep snow with the pregnant woman on a cot for 2 kilometres.

Fareeda delivered a healthy baby at the health centre.
