Massive fire at Serum Institute plant in Pune; Covid vaccine facility safe

A massive fire broke out in the Serum Institute of India facility in Maharashtra's Pune. However, the unit manufacturing the Coronavirus vaccine is safe.

A massive fire broke out in the Serum Institute of India facility in Maharashtra's Pune.

At least 10 fire tenders have been rushed to douse the fire that was reported in the new plant of the SII where the Bacillus Calmette–Guérin (BCG) vaccines are made.

The Serum Institute unit manufacturing the Coronavirus vaccine is safe.

According to fire department officials, no loss of lives has been reported so far.

Fire-fighting operations continue at the plant.
