Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund on Thursday (October 7) completed a 300-million-pound purchase of Premier League club Newcastle United, giving hope to fans dreaming of a first title in almost a century.

Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund on Thursday (October 7) completed a 300-million-pound purchase of Premier League club Newcastle United, giving hope to fans dreaming of a first title in almost a century.

The takover has been on since 2017 and collapsed last year over concerns about how much control the Saudi state would have in running the club.

The deal came to a close only this week after the Public Investment Fund assured the Premier League that the Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, won't have any say in the Newcastle team.
