PubliCity: Travel time in BMTC buses to get longer due to plethora of problems
The BMTC buses have lost a whopping 12 kilometres of travel time daily in the last few years. The authorities say the buses that use to cover 214 kilometres are now covering only 202 kilometres. Due to bad roads, potholes, unplanned infrastructure and new vehicles, the travel time in BMTC will take much longer to reach a destination
Bengaluru: The cherished journey in the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) buses for passengers is now turning out to be a harrowing experience as the travel time will get longer. The reason for this is that of bad roads, potholes, digging of roads and drains for installation of new pipes and daily registration of new private vehicles causing slow-moving traffic. According to BMTC, 6,500 buses that have a target to cover 214 kilometres daily, can cover only 202 km, thus a loss of about 12 to14 on a daily trip.
