Namma Metro smart card’s minimum balance hiked to Rs 50

Several commuters in Bengaluru expressed their displeasure with the new rule of Rs 50 minimum balance in smart cards by the BMRCL

Bengaluru: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), Namma Metro, on Wednesday (March 27) hiked the minimum balance in the smart card from Rs 8 to Rs 50. This sudden rule by the BMRCL came into effect moments after it was announced at all the metro stations.

The announcement reportedly stated that the gates won’t open if the smart card's minimum balance is less than Rs 50. Several passengers expressed their displeasure after the sudden rule came into effect minutes after the announcement.
