Bengaluru Police arrest ATM thieves, recover Rs 95 lakh
Private company employees who were responsible for cash loading and maintenance of ATMs were arrested for allegedly looting two ATMs. The police who registered a case have recovered Rs 95 lakh from the duo.
Bengaluru: South East Division Police attached to Bengaluru cracked an ATM robbery case and recovered Rs 95 lakh. The robbery had taken place on May 1.
According to city police commissioner T Suneel Kumar, Rakesh Bin Samuel (37), an employee of Secure Value company dealing with ATM cash loading and maintenance along with his friend Kishore Kumar (28) and a cab driver robbed an ICICI bank ATM on Langford Road in Shanthi Nagar and an RBL bank ATM on Residency Road on the pretext of repairing the ATMs.
Rs 47,83,000 and Rs 51,30,000 were stolen from ICICI and RBL bank ATMs respectively. "Based on the complaints from bank staff and records from CCTV, a search was conducted, and the accused persons were traced. Out of Rs 99,13,000, only Rs 95 lakh in cash was recovered from the houses of the accused.”
