
Tamil Nadu: Broken needle removed from woman's body after delivery
21- year-old K Ramya delivered a baby girl on November 19. The delivery was normal after staff nurses performed an episiotomy. The public Heath department in Tamil Nadu has suspended a staff nurse for ‘leaving behind’ a broken part of a needle after completing episiotomy.
Uchipuli: The public health department has ordered departmental action against a medical officer attached to the upgraded Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Tamil Nadu's Uchipuli. The PHD has also suspended a staff nurse for ‘leaving behind’ a broken part of a needle after completing episiotomy.

21- year-old K Ramya delivered a baby girl on November 19. The delivery was normal after staff nurses performed an episiotomy. As Ramya continued to bleed the next day, the PHC staff referred her to the Government District Headquarters Hospital in Ramanathapuram. On the same day, the authorities learnt about the presence of a broken needle in her pelvic bone from X-ray images. Soon, a team of doctors removed the needle after a two-hour-long surgical procedure.
