Rains turn Bengaluru's civic projects into death trap

Koramangala's road work, stormwater drain remodelling and footpath work will be delayed as rains will continue for the next few days and Northeast monsoon will last till December. Commuters and residents say travelling on this stretch has become risky as utilities dumped on the footpath force people on to the road

Koramangala's civic project from Sony World Junction to Wipro Park end will be delayed as rains have hampered work in ongoing projects. The public expressed anger at the BBMP for the mess and blame the civic agency for not planning for this well in advance.

According to weather experts, rains will continue for the next few days and Northeast monsoon which results in the rain in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha will also lash parts of south interior Karnataka. This will mean that Bengaluru will also receive rains and the BBMP will end up delaying projects.

Due to rains now, the project from Sony World Signal to Wipro Park will be delayed by another two months and continue to pose a risk to pedestrians who are forced to walk on the road due to utilities dumped on the footpath on both sides.
