Karnataka floods: Authorities release water from reservoirs, hundreds of houses inundated

Rivers Krishna and Tungabhadra are overflowing and water from Basava Sagar Reservoir, Narayanapura Dam has been released, resulting in hundreds of houses, and agriculture fields in north Karnataka getting inundated

Raichur: Heavy rains in North Karnataka has forced authorities to release water from reservoirs resulting in hundreds of houses getting inundated. River Krishna and Tungabhadra are overflowing and 3.1 lakh cusecs of water from 22 gates of Narayanapura Dam have been released to River Krishna. Sheelahalli bridge in Lingsugur taluk remains submerged. Yaragudi, Kadadaragaddi, Hanchinala, Yanagundi villages have lost all connections with the city. This has also led to a loss of crops worth lakhs of rupees.

Tungabhadra River is also facing the brunt of heavy rains. 1.50 lakh cusecs of water was released from Tungabhadra reservoir inundating the houses, agriculture fields in surrounding areas.

Water was also released from Basava Sagar Reservoir to River Krishna in Yadgir. 3,01,052 cusecs of water was released. This has flooded Chaya Bhagavathi Temple and many houses in Neelakantarayanagaddi village. The Kolluru bridge is also submerged.
