Karnataka: Couple in financial crisis drowns children in pond, backs out from committing suicide

A couple in Karnataka drowned their two children, Khushi (3 years old) and Chiru (18 months old) after resolving to put an end to their own lives owing to financial crisis. They were reportedly being harassed by money lenders. The incident happened at Kudalgi in Ballari, Karnataka.

The parents Chiranjeevi and his wife, who married four years ago, decided to end the lives of all in the family as they had no means of earning following the pandemic. However, after drowning the children, they failed to gather themselves to jump into the Ramadurga pond and returned. The act of the couple came to light, after the body of a dead child was found floating. The parents were tracked and when questioned confessed to their act.
