Forest range personnel collect 452 sea turtle eggs from Tamil Nadu shore

The Mandapam forest range personnel in Tamil Nadu on Sunday (February 2) collected as many as 452 sea turtle eggs which are the fourth collection of this season in 2020

Ramanathapuram: A team of sea turtle watchers was taking a stroll along the Danushkodi seashore in the early hours, surveying turtle tracks when they found a nest full of eggs. Supervised by forest range officer Venkatesh, the watchers safely collected the eggs and shifted them to the hatchery at Muhuntharayar Chathiram. 

“This was the fourth collection in the range, and the collection of eggs will go on till the end of April,” Venkatesh said. The local fishermen were also very cooperative, he added.
