Don't order food that has onions: Varanasi hotels tell customers

While the Centre is making efforts to control the onion crisis in the nation, hotels in Varanasi are urging customers not to order food prepared with onions

Varanasi: Soaring prices of onions across the nation are burning holes not only in households but also in hotel budgets. Several hotels in Varanasi have put up posters asking customers not to demand food prepared with onions.

Onions are being sold at more than Rs 100 per kg in several states. Many consumers have cut down their consumption, keeping in mind the high prices of onion. To control the onion crisis, the government is importing over 11,000 tonnes of onions from Turkey.
