Bengaluru: Protective wall of Hulimavu lake collapses; floods houses, inundates roads

Bengaluru: Low-lying houses and cars in Bengaluru’s BTM layout were flooded, while roads were inundated on the afternoon of Sunday after a protective wall of Hulimavu lake partially collapsed due to repair work taking place in the lake. The sight of a car floating in the water created panic among onlookers and residents. Concerned authorities have been cleaning the lake, during which the protective wall was damaged. BBMP officials rushed to the spot as soon as the lake water flooded homes and inundated roads. The residents are irked with BBMP and BDA officials over the pathetic condition of the lake and its protective walls. The video was sourced by Jayakantha Vijayakumar, a concerned citizen.
