Bengaluru ready for lockdown extension: Mayor

With 45 coronavirus positive cases, Bengaluru has been termed as a 'red zone'. This, the Karnataka government Is likely to extend the lockdown and Bengaluru mayor has said that the municipal corporation is ready with 198 corporators and workers, who will take care of Bengalureans. 

 

Karnataka has managed well with the lockdown imposed to curb the spread of coronavirus. However, the focus remains on metro cities that have reported over ten cases. And Bengaluru with 45 cases, is likely to witness an extension of the lockdown. 

Bengaluru mayor Gowtham Kumar Jain said that corporators of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike(BBMP) and many NGOs and individuals are taking care of residents by ensuring they get their essentials. Migrant labourers, construction workers and people living in slums are also being taken care of by some good souls, he added. 

The mayor said that BBMP workers will not be given any leave till the lockdown is lifted as they have been given the task of ensuring safety and welfare of Bengalureans.
