BBMP marshals are watching you; don’t step out without face mask to dump garbage

In a new attempt to remind the public about the importance of wearing face masks, the BBMP has deployed its marshalls who are equipped with challan machines at the street level. Anyone coming out without wearing face masks to dump waste, they will be fined.

Bengaluru: To send a strong message that without wearing a face mask, even house waste will not be collected, the owners will be penalised. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has deployed its marshals on the streets in the early morning hours to drive every home with this message of importance of wearing face masks.

Earlier, marshalls, along with the BBMP staff, were deployed in main roads and at traffic signals to penalise those not wearing masks. The marshals were also deployed near shops and malls for the same purpose.

Now to make the monitoring even more stricter, after a few BBMP pourakarmikas became victims of COVID-19, the marshals were deployed in each ward to penalise the house owners and those coming to give waste without wearing a mask.
