Karnataka Election 2023: A high-stakes struggle is taking place in Ramanagara district's Channapatna between JD(S) leader and two-time Chief Minister H D Kumaraswmy and BJP's C P Yogeshwara. Both are members of the region's main Vokkaliga community.
 

Shivakumar alleged that Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai's office is calling up the returning officers of various districts to find defects in the applications filed by its candidates and rectify the mistakes in those of BJP nominees contesting the May 10 Assembly election. 

While Ramanagara is the home district of Shivakumar and Suresh, for Kumaraswamy and family it is their "Karma Bhoomi". Anitha Kumaraswamy, wife of Kumaraswamy, currently represents Ramanagara segment as JD(S) MLA. Ruling BJP is yet to announce its candidate for Ramanagara.

The vehicles are categorised into six types. Car owners will have to pay Rs 135 for a single trip on Bengaluru–Nidaghatta section. They have to pay Rs 205 for the return journey within a day. The toll rate for mini-bus will be Rs 220 and for buses, it will be Rs 460 (single journey).
