Chikkamagaluru Rains: Tunga and Bhadra Rivers Rise, Farmers Rejoice as Water Levels Increase
Continuous rainfall across Chikkamagaluru's Malnad region has raised the water levels of the Tunga and Bhadra rivers, bringing relief to farmers after a prolonged dry spell. However, rising river levels have also sparked flood concerns in Sringeri.

Tunga River Water Level Rises After Continuous Rainfall
Following continuous rainfall in Kudremukh, Kerekatte and the Western Ghats, the water level in the Tunga River has risen for the first time this year.
The increase in the river's water level has brought relief and happiness to local residents, who are hopeful that the sustained rainfall will improve water availability and benefit the region in the coming months.

Rising Tunga River Raises Flood Concerns in Sringeri
Continuous rainfall since Monday afternoon in Kerekatte and the surrounding areas has caused the flow of the Tunga River to increase significantly overnight. As a result, the river's water level has risen close to the parking area of the Sringeri Sharada Peetham temple.
If the heavy rainfall continues, the river's water level is likely to rise further, increasing the risk of flooding in and around Sringeri.
Tunga River Revives After Rain Brings Relief to Malnad
After experiencing an unusually intense spell of heat at the end of June, a rare occurrence in nearly three to four decades, the Malnad region witnessed rivers and streams drying up instead of flowing as they normally would during the monsoon.
However, moderate rainfall since Monday has significantly improved the situation, leading to a rise in the water level of the Tunga River.
The return of the rains has brought relief and renewed hope to farmers and plantation owners in Sringeri taluk of Chikkamagaluru district, who depend on the river for irrigation and their livelihoods.
Crane Submerged as Bhadra River Water Level Rises
Continuous rainfall since Monday has lashed all five taluks of the Malnad region in Chikkamagaluru district, causing a sharp rise in the water level of the Bhadra River.
As the river swelled, a crane parked on the riverbank for bridge construction work was completely submerged.
The crane had been left at the site when the river's water level was low. However, continuous rainfall since Monday afternoon in Kudremukh in Kalasa taluk and the Kerekatte Ghat region of Sringeri taluk caused the river's water level to rise rapidly, leaving the crane completely submerged.
Rain Brings Relief to Farmers in Malnad
The recent spell of moderate rainfall has brought smiles to the faces of farmers and plantation owners across the Malnad region, who had been eagerly awaiting the monsoon. The rainfall has raised hopes of improved groundwater levels and better water availability for agriculture.
Residents and members of the farming community are hopeful that the moderate rainfall will continue in the coming days, helping replenish groundwater reserves and providing much-needed relief after an unusually dry spell.
