Tribal woman allegedly practicing witchcraft found beheaded in Odisha, cops fail to find her missing head
In a gory incident from Tribal dominated state Odisha, a 62-year-old woman's headless body was found. The family of the woman alleges that some in the village have killed her due to rivalry.
With just four days left for Amavasya, a tribal woman suspected of practicing witchcraft was found murdered gruesomely. The villagers found her decapitated body from nearby bushes in Balibhol village of Mayurbhanj district on Sunday.
The victim was identified as Jamuna Hansdah by her family which was searching for her for the last 24 hours.
Karanjia Sub-divisional Police which registered a case under section 302 has launched a probe and cops are searching for the missing head of the woman.
As part of the probe, the police have already taken two persons from the village into their custody and are investigating. It is said that the woman was last seen on Saturday.
Interestingly since last year, this is the third such incident surfacing from Odisha.
On Feb 4, a married woman Pushpalatha was murdered and her head was beheaded in Andharua-Daspur Road in Bhubaneshwar outskirts. The police after the arrest of two accused said, that the murder was due to an illicit relationship with one of the accused and the head was beaded to conceal her identity.
Similarly in May 2020, 55-year-old Saroj Kumar Pradhan from Cuttack was beheaded by a 70-year-old temple priest. Accused Sansari Ojha of Brahmani temple in Narasingapuram then told the police that the goddess told him to behead the man to end the pandemic.
