A day after Balakot air strike on February 26, 2019, a dogfight ensued between air forces of India & Pakistan. Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was captured & released 2 days later.

The attacks, however, brought international focus on Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) chief Masood Azhar. Two months later, on May 1, Masood Azhar was designated as global terrorist by the United Nations Security Council.
