The real story emerging from the ruins of the Congress party government in Puducherry is the decline and disappearance of the grand old party which started in Tamil Nadu and moved to the Union Territory, BJP national spokesperson Rajeev Chandrasekhar said.

Asserting the Congress is almost going to be a non-entity soon, BJP's Puducherry election co-in charge said, "Congress under Rahul Gandhi is disappearing and will soon be seen tagging along with parties like the Shiv Sena in Maharashtra or the DMK in Tamil Nadu. Effectively, that is the political relevance of the Congress which has been delivered to them by the rest of the states in India and now states in South India are doing the same."

Chief Minister V Narayanasamy, earlier this morning, tendered his resignation after the party failed to prove its numbers in the floor of the Assembly. The death blow to the only Congress government in southern India was delivered by two alliance legislators who resigned for allegedly being sidelined by the chief minister. Earlier four Congress MLAs too had resigned for similar reasons.

"The collapse of the Congress-DMK government has put an end to the most inept and corrupt governments in Puducherry's political history. The Congress DMK government has destroyed Puducherry's economy and finances very similar to the nation's finances under the United Progressive Alliance," Rajeev said, adding that the situation is such that government employees are not getting paid in the Union Territory, and lakhs of people have ration cards but no place to buy the ration from.
