Teachers’ day special: BBMP’s contract teachers paid lesser than tailoring instructors

The future of 600 teachers in BBMP’s 126 institutions future looks bleak as their demands for regularisation of services and increase in income to match that of tailoring instructors who draw Rs 35,000 per month have remained ignored from some time.

Bengaluru: Being a teacher gives one a sense of pride and people look up to them, but teachers employed by BBMP on contract basis are left feeling ignored. They allege that they never get their salary on time and have demanded regularisation of the services, a demand that is yet to be met by the BBMP.

Moreover, BBMP's decision to pay Rs 35,000 per month to tailoring instructors in BBMP’s skill development centres has only added insult to injury. The teachers working in 126 BBMP institutions from KG to degree-level say their salaries range from Rs 10,000 to Rs 17,000.
