Bengaluru: In a symbolic gesture to keep Bengaluru clean on the lines of the Swachh Bharat initiative, the Marwari Yuva Manch, Bengaluru Central Division distributed over 150 small bins to be used in a car.
The initiative was inaugurated by Additional Commissioner of Police, Traffic and Security, P Harishekaran on Saturday, and he thanked the association for taking up such a noble cause. He said the association has joined hands with the Bengaluru Traffic Police to strive to keep the city clean.
Sandeep Tibrewal, president of the Marwari Yuva Manch says this initiative began seven months ago and have distributed 20,000 bins free of cost thus far in Bengaluru and 60,000 bins across India. By October 2, on the 150-birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the association looks to distribute bins to over 2 lakh car owners.
"The idea is to ensure the garbage collected in cars goes into the bigger bins and the city remains clean," said Tibrewal.
