Karnataka coalition crisis: Security tightened at Vidhana Soudha ahead of trust vote
Vidhana Soudha (Karnataka secretariat) is prepared for the floor test that is expected shortly. The MLAs will throng the Assembly as Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy faces trust vote
Bengaluru: Vidhana Soudha (Karnataka secretariat) is ready to receive MLAs from across party lines ahead of the trust vote that is expected to take place shortly today (July 18). Security has been tightened and hundreds of police personnel have been deployed.
The fate of the Congress-JD(S) hangs in balance as the MLAs are going to vote for or against the HD Kumaraswamy-led government.
Will Karnataka continue with the present government or will it get a new one will be decided in a matter of a few hours on Thursday.
Thirteen Congress and three JD(S) MLAs had submitted their resignations which are yet to be accepted. The Supreme Court has allowed 15 of them to skip today’s proceedings.
If the resignations of the 16 rebel MLAs are accepted, Congress-JD(S)’s tally will fall to 100, which is well below the halfway mark in the 225-member House.
