Girish Karnad no more: Mortal remains kept on display for public to pay last respects

Mortal remains of Girish Karnad were kept at Kallahalli Crematorium in Baiyappanahalli. After the public pay their last respects to the veteran actor, his body will be cremated without any rituals.
 

Bengaluru: Jnanpith award winner, writer, actor, director, theatre person, Girish Karnad breathed his last at his residence on Lavelle Road, Bengaluru at 6.30 am, today (June 10). The 81-year-old veteran actor died of multi-organ failure. The actor was suffering from a respiratory-related illness.

His mortal remains have been kept at Kallahalli Electric crematorium premises in Baiyappanahalli for the public to pay their last respects from 2pm to 3pm. Without any rituals, his body will then be cremated. The Karnataka government had announced a state funeral, but the family requested that it be a private event.
