BMTC bus conductor attempts suicide after ‘harassment’ by depot manager

The conductor attempted suicide after the Sumanahalli BMTC Depot manager allegedly harassed her for not generating much revenue in her morning shift

Bengaluru: A 33-year-old BMTC bus conductor on Thursday attempted suicide by consuming poison at Sumanahalli BMTC Depot. Jyothi, the conductor, was also upset over her change in shift timings from the morning shift to the general shift.

On Thursday, more than 100 BMTC bus drivers and conductors held a protest and complained that the depot manager, Prashant used to harass them for not bringing much revenue. They also allege that Prashant would not grant them leave and would frequently change their shift timings.

According to sources, the victim, Jyothi is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital, and her condition is said to be stable. BMTC senior officials have promised to take strict action against the depot manager.
