Bengaluru central prison inmates caught with drugs, mobile phones

The Bengaluru Police conducted a surprise check on the barracks of prisoners in the Parappana Agrahara central prison where they found the inmates possessing drugs and other banned items

Bengaluru: The Bengaluru central prison’s inmates were caught with marijuana, mobile phones and SIM cards.

The Parappana Agrahara prison is home to many convicts, known for their notorious crimes.

A surprise check to the prison led to the discovery that inmates were in possession of drugs, mobile phones and SIM cards. The items have been seized.

Bengaluru city police commissioner T Sunil Kumar, CCB additional commissioner Alok Kumar, Central Crime Branch (CCB) DCP Girish, DCP Annamalai of south division, DCP Isha Pant of southeast division conducted the checks.

A dog squad was brought in to conduct thorough searches.

Police often find themselves catching prisoners in possession of drugs and other forbidden items.

In the past, news of a staffer supplying drugs had come to the fore. Another instance of undertrials supplying forbidden items too had come to light.
