Under-construction buildings in Bengaluru under scanner; tilted five-storey structure shakes up authorities

After evacuating residents from over 30 buildings because of the damaged five storeyed PG in North Bengaluru and making an arrest, authorities will now put the scanner on upcoming buildings in Bengaluru.


After repeated incidents of building collapses and deaths and casualties in the past, the recent incident of a five-storey building tilting in Yelahanka zone on Tuesday, shook authorities. The 35 people may have been trapped had they not run out in time. The BBMP will put new high-rise buildings and buildings that are over three floors under the scanner.

According to BBMP mayor Gautham Kumar Jain, the five-storey building is a paying guest facility. The mayor also says that all residents are safe.

However, to take preventive steps, over 30 buildings and houses surrounding it have also been evacuated and arrangements have been made to allow residents to camp nearby.

Police arrested site owner Babu who is accused of damaging the PG's foundation while digging a borewell at his site next to the PG.
