Tuticorin custodial deaths: CB-CID arrests 5 more cops

 P Jayaraj and his son Fennix, arrested for 'violating' the coronavirus lockdown norms over business hours of their cellphone shop, died at a hospital in Kovilpatti on June 23

Tuticorin:  The Tamil Nadu CB-CID arrested five more police officers in connection with the Tuticorin custodial deaths of father and son. It is reported that the arrested officials were questioned for 15 hours before their arrests.

The police officers are Palthurai, Chellathurai, Samathurai, Velmuthu, and Thomas. Presently the cops are shifted to Thoothukudi for a medical examination.

Days ago, an inspector, two sub-inspectors (SIs) and two constables were taken to custody in connection with the case.

Jayaraj, 59, and his 31-year-old son Fennix were taken to the police station on June 20 for violating lockdown rules. The duo was allegedly beaten to death by police.
