Thieves target temple in Karnataka amidst lockdown, flee with lakhs of rupees

An incident of theft from a temple in Haveri, where Karnataka home minister Basavaraj Bommai hails from, has put him in bad light, with people questioning whether he can actually safeguard people and their position in his home district, leave alone the state.
The ire of locals in Haveri arose after they found that thieves had damaged CCTV cameras and looted the temple hundi and escaped with lakhs of rupees.
The incident occurred on Sunday night at Ranebennur Chowdeshwari Temple.
A case has been lodged with Ranebennur Police.
It is said, as the temple was shut for the last 45 days due to lockdown, the miscreants may have targeted it seeing that there was no public movement.
