Vijayawada today is an urban conglomerate in Andhra Pradesh. Though it is a peaceful city today, four decades ago it was known as Bezawada famously for notorious gang wars. In a chain reaction, the rivalry between two local gangs resulted in the worst event in the history of united Andhra Pradesh and Bezawada became one of the most dreaded places in the state. The rowdies in the region always carried around lethal weapons and rowdyism was at its peak in the 1980s.
