Residents use tyres to cover caved-in roads that were part of Karnataka chief minister’s rounds

As BWSSB dug up repaired roads in Horamavu a day after chief minister BS Yediyurappa did his rounds in Bengaluru, it caved in a few days ago following the rains. To avoid motorists getting stuck and to avert a tragedy, residents have used old tyres to cover potholes.

It seems there is no relief for Bengalureans as work by BBMP and BWSSB have made life miserable for residents in Horamavu area. While the BBMP has taken its time, shoddy work to repair roads after protests, and the BWSSB’s impeccable timing in digging up the roads and leaving it unrepaired has added to the frustration of locals.

The lack of coordination by civic authorities and ignorance to citizens’ cries has resulted in residents having to take up measures on their own to avoid tragedy. Horavamu residents have used old car tyres to cover potholes to ensure motorists and pedestrians remain safe.
