PubliCity: Harlur residents take to streets in protest
Thousands of residents from four wards hit the streets in protest for better civic amenities
Over 4500 residents took to the streets on Saturday to hold a silent march called ‘Fight4Right-Citizens’ march against the civic apathy. During the protest, the residents held placards and raised slogans like “No Roads, No Votes” and “Yedheli Yedheli” (wake up), sending out a clear message to the government and concerned officials. The residents have been complaining for a long time now and have received no response from the respective authorities, and hence the protest. The residents complained that they see the authorities only during elections and are later ignored. The promised electricity and road repairs were started during elections but were left incomplete. The dug-up roads are now dangerous for commuters as well as pedestrians.
