Balrampur: A pregnant woman was carried on cot for around 5 kilometre forest area in Chhattisgarh’s Balrampur. The woman was carried to the ambulance that took her to the hospital. Due to lack of road connectivity, locals are often forced to carry ailing individuals. Villagers claimed that at times locals even lose their lives. A local said, “In delivery cases, we take the woman on cot, as there is no facility for vehicles. We always carry out patients in this manner. If the condition is less serious, then the person is taken on two-wheeler and then a cot. Many times they die on their way to hospital.” Forest official said, “We sent a proposal through NREGA for the construction of road. We will try to get it constructed as soon as possible for the convenience of villagers.”
