Jodhpur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a televised address to the nation, had said that it was time to "make India self-sufficient in every way" and that every Indian should buy and promote local goods. After PM Modi’s call for ‘vocal for local’, ‘matkas’ (earthen pots) have witnessed high sales as soon as Unlock 1 started in the ongoing summer season in Rajasthan. Despite high temperatures touching up to 44 degree Centigrade in the state, these clay utensils and bottles help keep the water cool. Following the lifting of the coronavirus lockdown, the clay utensil business has started picking up with a wide variety of products to choose from. The traders are a happy lot as they are witnessing increasing footfall everyday after a two-month lockdown.
