Kerala: Security tightened as Sabarimala temple doors to open at 5pm

The Sabarimala temple located in a reserve forest in Western Ghats in Pathanamthitta district of the state, would be opened for the two-month-long Mandalam Makaravilakku season this evening around 5 pm.


Pathanamthitta: Kerala's Sabarimala temple opens today at 5 pm for the Mandala Pooja festival after the Supreme Court deferred the verdict on the Sabarimala issue. The chief priest or tantri of the Sabarimala temple, Mahesh Kandarau, will open its doors at 5pm and pilgrims will be allowed to trek to the temple in the afternoon. Women of all age groups will be allowed to enter the temple. However, no protection will be given to the women, Devaswom minister Kadakampally Surendran said.
