Bengaluru: Though Karnataka is under complete lockdown, people have been showing lackadaisical attitude and have been neglecting all protocols and guidelines laid down by the government to contain the spread of coronavirus. On the eve of Ugadi, people were seen swarming markets to buy things for the festival. Police in Belagavi’s Gokak had an uphill task forcing vendors in markets to shut down and clearing people from the area. It was a similar situation in Vijayapura as well, as farmers were selling their yield and police were forcing them to vacate the venue. However, Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa appealed to the masses to stay at home and celebrate Ugadi in a simple manner. He also said the government has been taking so many measures to curb the spread of the virus and hence people too should show responsibility and stay safe.
