ID proof a must for entry to shelter homes in Punjab's Fatehgarh Sahib

Shelter home in Mandi Gobindgarh in Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab, has been giving shelter to homeless people in the night. However many complained that the caretaker of the shelter home denied them entry.

Fatehgarh Sahib: With freezing weather and frost taking over Punjab, Fatehgarh Sahib’s homeless people have been taking shelter at warming centres and shelter homes. There are few relief homes which provide shelter to homeless people as they can take shelter at nights and vacate the place in the morning. Many have been taking shelter at relief homes in Mandi Gobindgarh in Fatehgarh Sahib built by the municipality. However, many other homeless people have raised complaints that the caretaker of the shelter home asks them to provide ID cards if they have to avail shelter for the night and doesn’t allow them inside without ID proofs. Caretaker Kirtipal Singh has denied these charges and executive officer of city council Charanjeet Singh has said that homeless people need ID cards to avail the shelter home and they will look into the complaints they have received.
