After shameful incidents of manual scavenging that were reported in Bengaluru's hotspots like Jayamahal, Whitefiled, MG Road, now city's startup hub Koramangala too has witnessed humans being employed to clean manhole trenches. Bengaluru continues to witness humans being employed to clean manhole trenches in  Koramangala. The private contractor with Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewage Board (BWSSB) has employed a youth to get down the trench connecting the manhole in Wipro Park Singal to clean it. After realising that the incident is being filmed by Asianet Newsable,  the contractor hurriedly asked the youth in the trench to come out.

The BWSSB engineer, who is supposed to be present on the spot when such work is being executed, was absent. When some activists approached the jurisdiction police later, they were told that they have not registered an FIR since no one has complained. The activists insisted on a suo moto case and register the FIR under the provision of manual scavenging act 2013 and take action against the BWSSB engineer too.
