From Bengaluru to Kalaburagi, people challenge ‘superstitions’ surrounding solar eclipse

Several differently-abled children were seen buried neck-deep in soil in Karnataka's Kalaburagi believing that they would be cured during a solar eclipse

Bengaluru: Several people on Thursday (December 26) gathered at Bengaluru's Town Hall and decided to break the stereotype of not eating till the solar eclipse ends. Meanwhile, differently-abled children were buried neck-deep in soil in Karnataka's Kalaburagi, believing that they would be cured during the eclipse.

The solar eclipse, which occurs when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, began at around 8:17 am and lasted until 10:57 am today. It is also referred to as the "ring of fire" and "Surya Grahan" in Hindi.
