Curfew to be extended in Shillong if situation demands: Meghalaya CM on CAA clashes

Shillong: Clashes erupted between Khasi Students' Union (KSU) members and non-tribals over Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Shillong, which led to imposition of curfew and internet ban in the capital city of Meghalaya. Chief minister Conrad Sangma said, "This is a sensitive situation and I have called an emergency meeting with additional chief secretary home, DGP, home minister and other officials of the state. We have taken decision to immediately impose curfew in Shillong which starts at 10 pm at night and we will see how the situation goes and if necessary then will further extend it as initially it is just for 10-12 hours. The internet on mobile phones will also be temporarily suspended."
