Congress leader attempts self-immolation in front of SP office in Rajasthan

What led to Congress leader Sitaram Danodia taking that drastic step of attempting self-immolation in front of the SP office in Rajasthan’s Sikar?

Jaipur: In a drama that ensued after a complaint was lodged on Monday in Rajasthan’s Sikar, a Congress leader tried to self-immolate by pouring petrol. All this in front of the SP office. During the incident, the police who were outside the police station stopped him from setting himself ablaze and took him into the police station. According to sources, angered over the police inaction in a case registered against City Council chairman Jeevan Khan, Congress Khadi Board district president Sitaram Danodia today attempted self-immolation in front of the SP office. Danodia poured petrol on his head and tried to set himself on fire.

About a month ago, Sitaram Danodia had filed a case against Jeevan Kha at the Udyog Nagar police station for indecent behaviour and abusive speech. Seeing that there has been no action taken against the latter, Danodia demanded action by submitting a memorandum to the SP and after that he got out of the SP office and tried to immolate himself. Danodia accused Jeevan of abusing them and casting them out when they had gone to complain about the filth piled up in ward number 58 situated between Jhunjhunu and Churu line.
