Amritsar: Sikhs from Pakistan who migrated to India 20 to 25 years ago have welcomed Indian government's move with respect to the Citizenship Amendment Bill. The Bill offers amnesty to non-Muslim illegal immigrants from three neighbouring countries - Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. According to the Bill, those who are non-Muslims and belong to these three countries but are living in India since 20 years can get Indian citizenship. Migrated Sikhs in India are hoping the Bill would be passed in the Rajya Sabha too so that they can apply for Indian citizenship soon.
