Chhattisgarh CM removes district collector who slapped a man for violating lockdown norms

A man who bought medicines was slapped by the district collector, Ranbir Sharma and thrashed by policemen amid the COVID-19 lockdown in Chhattisgarh.

On Sunday, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel removed the Surajpur district's collector after a video of the IAS officer slapping a man emerged on social media. In the 3-minute-long video, IAS officer Ranbir Sharma hits a man while enforcing lockdown norms in the district. He has also seen directing the police officers accompanying him to beat the man.

Later, Surajpur District Collector Ranbir Sharma said he "sincerely apologises" for his behaviour, and it was never his intention to disrespect the person. Also, the IAS Association condemned the behaviour. Watch the video.
