Asianet Newsable impact: Authorities get cracking; crater-ridden road asphalted after media report

The crater-ridden roads that remained unattended for over two years have finally been fixed after Asianet Newsable published a report. The report was published on August 16, 2019, following which the public representatives exerted pressure on officials to asphalt the road in LB Shastrinagar.
 

Bengaluru: Two years of hell turned around in just three days. The roads in LB Shastrinagar of Vignananagar ward was one of the worst and had many potholes. Every time it rained movement had become a difficult task. From children to the aged, all had to risk their lives walking and driving on this stretch on LB Shastrinagar Nagar Main Road. Now the roads have been fixed.

Residents who are happy for now, say that after media highlighted their plight, some action has been initiated. However, they have expressed doubts on the standard of work as during rains such shoddy projects lie exposed.

Despite instances such as schoolchildren falling from an auto rickshaw after its wheel got stuck in a pothole, two-wheeler motorists losing control and ending up with injuries, there was still no response.

However, with BBMP elections to be held in September, many such roads my witness some repair.
