Andhra Pradesh’s 3 capitals idea draws flak yet again, farmers and women stage protest

Farmers and members from Janasena, Congress party in Andhra Pradesh staged a demonstration against chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's idea of having three capitals for the state

Amaravathi: The decision of creating three capitals and decentralised administration of Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has drawn a lot of flak. Opposing the idea of decentralised administration, farmers and women from several areas of hit the streets in protest over the chief minister’s decision and in a bid to save the capital Amravathi. Members from Janasena, Congress party women members and left parties workers staged a protest. 

 The protesters along with Amaravathi Parirakshana Samithi Jac members raised slogans against the government’s idea. 

The bar association members in Vijayawada joined the protests and demanded not to shift the capital city. The police detained the protesters as they had not permitted any protest to take place while section 144 and 30 were imposed. Among the detained protesters were veteran actress and TDP spokesperson Divyavani. She also claimed that police personnel touched her inappropriately when she resisted to get into the police van.
