An alternate road to ease traffic on Silk Board Junction soon

Fed with a volley of tweets, articles condemning the BBMP and traffic department for not providing any solution to the traffic situation on BTM and Silk Board Junction, the BBMP has come up with a road spanning 1,080 meters between Madiwala Tank Bund and 29th Main, Bannerghatta Road near Jayadeva Hospital Junction.

An alternate route is in the making to ease traffic at Central Silk Board Junction and reduce traffic jams by over 35% during peak hours. According to former minister and BTM MLA Ramalinga Reddy, the project costs at an estimated Rs 22 crore to implement. Motorists from BTM and surrounding areas can hope to reach Banashankari, JP Nagar and other areas without spending too much time on the road once this project is completed.

Work is in progress, but it has been halted at a particular stretch near Tank Bunk due to a National Green Tribunal order, because it cuts through the buffer zone of a lake. The project plan is being altered, and officials hope to have it completed within six months.
