Vijayapura: Here is a teacher, bringing an old-world charm into the profession and helping his students maintain sanity during these mind-numbing times and also ensure their learning doesn’t stop. He visits his students at their houses and makes sure they have done their homework well.
Hanumantha Kathraki, a teacher at Government High School in Kengalguti village, Vijayapura. This practice is not something new to Hanumantha as he has been teaching his students at their homes for the past 3 years and is continuing the same through coronavirus lockdown as opening of schools is uncertain. Over 100 students are being taught languages such as Kannada, Hindi and English. Moreover, he also teaches them addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. The teacher’s efforts have been praised by primary and secondary education minister S Suresh Kumar and district collector YS Patil.
