Puneeth Rajkumar death: 6000 cops deployed in Bengaluru; liquor stores shut till Sunday
Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Kamal Pant speaks to Asianet Newsable about the elaborate security arrangements that have been made to ensure that peace is maintained in the city in the aftermath of the demise of Puneeth Rajkumar.
To ensure that no untoward incident or violence takes place in Bengaluru following the sudden demise of Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar, the police has deployed tight security across the city.
Speaking to Asianet Newsable about the elaborate security arrangements that have been made, Bengaluru Police Commissioner Kamal Pant said that he had deployed 6000 police personnel in and around the Kanteerava stadium where thousands have been thronging to pay their last respects to the mortal remains of the late actor. This apart, two companies of Rapid Action Force have also been deployed.
The city police chief appealed to Puneeth's fans and the general public to maintain peace, and come and pay the last respect as arrangements have been made at the stadium. Warning about stern action against mischief-mongers, the Commissioner said that the police is well-prepared and that anyone found attempting to disturb peace will be dealt with serious action.
As a precautionary step, the Bengaluru City Police also has issued orders to close down all the liquor stores across the City until further orders. The decision was taken as in the past when actor Dr Rajkumar died, miscreants attacked police and disturbed the peace. Anticipating similar action with regard to miscreants trying to take advantage of the situation, the police ordered shut liquor shops to shut by 5 pm.
Earlier Bengaluru Deputy Commissioner J Manjunath had said that from the district administration side, all arrangements had been taken and the entire stadium had been barricaded. For peaceful darshan, separate lines have been made for women and men.
