Padmaja was a manager at Bank of America. Police have registered a case against her husband Girish Narasimha, a system administrator working with an IT firm. Her parents have alleged that their daughter's husband and in-laws were harassing her for dowry. In the wedding, the girl's parent's reportedly had given 18 tolas of gold and 1-acre farmland as dowry.
After a brief lull, another dowry-related death is back to haunt Telangana, where a bank manager allegedly killed herself over dowry demands.

Padmaja, who was a manager at Bank of America (BOA), died under suspicious circumstances at her residence in Gachibowli on Sunday, local reports said.
Police have filed a case against her husband Girish Narasimha, a system administrator working with an IT firm, and his family members in charge of dowry death.
Padmaja's parents have now lodged a complaint suspecting a foul play.
“Padmaja's family members charged that he started harassing her for more dowry within a few months of marriage,” Gachchibowli Inspector S. Chandrakanth told The Hindu.
Based on the complaint filed by the parents of the deceased, the police have registered a case of dowry death under Section 304-B of the Indian Penal Code.
Girish and Padmaja got married in April 2016. It is reported that for her wedding her parents had gifted 18 tolas of gold and one-acre farmland estimated to be worth over Rs 20 lakh.
"They (Padmaja's kin) suspect that she might have been killed or might have taken the extreme step unable to bear their torture," the inspector added.
A Deccan Chronicle report said that Padmaja's relative have alleged that they have found injuries on her forehead and throat.
There have been several dowry deaths in Andhra and Telangana in the last few months. In March, the wife of a Google techie killed herself on her first wedding anniversary due to alleged dowry harassment by her husband and in-laws.
In the month of March only, the parents of NRI techie Narra Sasikala, who was found murdered in her home in New Jersey, US, along with her son, had alleged that their son-in-law N. Hanumantha Rao must have been involved in the killing. They claimed that they had paid the techie Hanumantha Rao Rs 1 crore in dowry.
A 20-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide here by hanging herself after recording a selfie video on her mobile phone in April - just months after her wedding. In the video, she accused her husband and other family members of harassing her for dowry.
The dowry problem plaguing Andhra and Telangana region even has become a topic of discussion on Quora. One such thread, which raised the question: "Why do Andhra Pradesh and Telangana people take a lot of dowry from the girl's side? Is it justified?" had a quite an interesting answer.
"Its all business in here. In arranged marriages, Girl and Girl’s Family want a guy who is financially sound and earning a lot of money. so the boy expects dowry to exchange the security he provides with the financial status he/his family acquired already. So JUSTIFIED in most of the cases."
Is this answer the reflection of Andhra and Telangana society?
