More than 1300 organisations have supported the bandh. Transport services such as buses, metro, cabs and rickshaws will stay off roads. Necessities such as milk and vegetables will be available. Emergency services such as ambulance, medical stores will be exempted from the bandh.

The Supreme Court, on Monday, ordered the Karnataka government to release to 15,000 cusecs of Cauvery water per day to Tamil Nadu.

The court order triggered a backlash which resulted in massive protests across the state, and several organisations have called for a bandh on Friday.

Karnataka will remain shut from 6 am to 6 pm tomorrow in support of the bandh. Public and private transport, schools and colleges, hotels, malls and film theatres will be remain shut. 

Here's a list of services and organisations that will not be functional on Friday.

  • Transport: The Bengaluru Taxi Association has supported the bandh. More than 1 lakh taxis will stay off the roads tomorrow. Auto-rickshaw drivers' association has also supported the bandh. KSRTC & BMTC labours' association and the All India Trade Union Congress will observe the bandh. More than 50 thousand employees will not come on duty. Private bus owners' association will shut down services. Metro will not be operational. However, Railways will not be affected by the bandh. 
  • Cinema and Malls: Movie theatres and shopping malls will remain shut. Theatres will not screen movies tomorrow and malls have displayed boards informing shoppers about the bandh tomorrow.
  • Private firms and Hotels: Many private companies have announced a holiday for their employees on Friday. Some companies will be working on Saturday to compensate for the bandh. Hotel and restaurants will remain shut.
  • Petrol: Petrol bunks will not be operational on account of the bandh.
  • Government offices: Lawyers are favour of the bandh and court sessions have been cancelled for tomorrow. Government offices and banks will remain closed. 
  • Film Industry: The Karnataka film industry is in support of the bandh. All shooting schedules have been cancelled. Movie stars will be joining the protest.
  • TV Channels: Karnataka cable operators' association president Patrik Raju has announced that the association will not broadcast 52 Tamil channels on Friday.
  • Educational institutions: Private schools association has announced a holiday on Friday. Whereas, the state government has given the district governance the right to take a decision on the matter.

However, with an exception to the bandh, emergency services such as ambulance, medical shops and hospitals will stay open. Basic requirements such as milk and vegetables will be available.
